Angie Ang
Managing Principal
Angie has over 15 years experience in the banking and the corporate sector. She worked with RHB Bank Malaysia and subsequently with ABN AMRO Singapore, holding senior positions in the areas of operation, corporate banking and regional credit analysis.
Before she founded Affilion, she was the group general manager of a publicly listed company in Malaysia responsible for restructuring, fund raising and reengineering of the group from a private entity to a public company. Being group general manager, she managed the division of human resources, corporate communication, investment, corporate services, corporate finance and business processes improvement.
Angie has led numerous advisory engagements, including strategy and corporate planning for an Oil and Gas group and an IT group based in the UAE and a healthcare group in Malaysia. She was also the lead adviser in a pre-IPO assessment exercise, evaluating the regional bourses for the client’s listing prospects, buy out exercises of private and public companies, fund raising transactions etc..
She sits on the board of a private equity biotech fund and a biotech outsourcing company. Her investment experience also includes the establishment, fund raising and investment management for another growth capital-based VC/private equity fund with primary focus in South East Asia.
She holds a MBA with Honours from the Graduate School of Business, University of Chicago, a Master of Philosophy in Finance from Cambridge University (UK) and a Bachelor in Business Administration from the Schulich Business School, York University, Toronto, Canada. She was inducted as a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Society, from her MBA program, accredited by AACSB International.


Koot Chiew Hwa
Principal
Chiew Hwa has extensive investment and deal structuring, financial consulting and business feasibility experience. She was formerly a Senior Manager with the Global Corporate Finance unit in Malaysia and has led large government projects, as well as headed the business development and investments for a public listed company.
Her engagements includes the establishment of an offshore development and support centre in Malaysia and the application for MSC status for a foreign IT company, advising on a conceptual privatisation plan to the Ministry of Defence, as well as strategy and business planning for a group of companies in the UAE. Chiew Hwa is also a key contributor to the establishment and fund raising for a growth capital based venture capital/private equity fund, anchored by a Malaysian government agency.
Prior to Affilion, she was with a public listed company involved in the charting of the group’s corporate development, including exploring various corporate exercises to unlock values within the group to enhance shareholders’ returns. She was also responsible for exploring and evaluating business development opportunities to strengthen the various strategic business units in plantation, construction, IT and healthcare/biotech, including entering into collaborations, joint ventures or partnership arrangements as well as the lead in all the group’s Investors’ Relations programmes and corporate development initiatives.
Chiew Hwa holds a Bachelor of Economics (Accounting Major) from the University of Adelaide, South Australia and is a Member of the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants.


Foo Mei Ling
Principal
Mei Ling has experience in corporate advisory, financial planning, reporting and management, project planning and financial restructuring.
Her engagements include a supply chain management advisory for a leading fast food chain multinational company, incentive planning for an IT group, based in the UAE, pre-IPO advisory and evaluation of regional bourses for the client’s listing prospects and business planning for a Bio-Agriculture & Industrial Biotechnology solution for a sustainable, integrated and zero emission farming system.
Prior to Affilion, Mei Ling was previously involved in the investment and business development of a large corporation. She was previously also a regional finance lead for an international IT company holding a dual role in financial planning and management.
Mei Ling holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Queen’s University of Belfast, UK
